How much does a Hungarian Grand Prix weekend cost?

What a real Hungaroring weekend costs, by budget

The Hungaroring is genuinely the calendar's affordability outlier — a General Admission ticket here costs a fraction of what the same tier runs at Spa or Monza, and the natural bowl terrain means GA is a real option, not a fallback for people who couldn't afford a seat. Most visitors base themselves in Budapest, 25 minutes away by metro and suburban rail, rather than near the circuit itself.

Getting around, cheaply

This range covers Budapest's BKK metro, tram, and bus network — a single ticket runs about 500 Ft (~$1.50), or a 24-hour travelcard for around 2,750 Ft (~$8) — genuinely no car needed. Ticket-holders get real perks on race day too: Budapest Card holders ride completely free to the Hungaroring, a direct fan bus runs from Kerepes HÉV station to Gate 3, and F1's own combined day ticket (3,749 Ft, about $10) covers unlimited transport plus the shuttle.

A local money-saving trick

This range covers solid, unpretentious Hungarian dining, not fine dining. Look for a "napi menü" or "ebédmenü" — a fixed lunch menu most restaurants outside the tourist strip offer for 2,000–3,500 Ft (roughly $5–9) — or head to the Great Market Hall's upstairs stalls, where a classic lángos runs about €5–9 for a filling, fast meal.

What about flights?

Roughly US$83–US$634 round-trip, economy, if you're flying from within Europe.

Budapest is served by Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), with direct routes from most major European cities and several long-haul hubs, and a straightforward transfer into the city. Tell the Planner where you're starting from for a real number on your actual route.
