This series runs five Tests across six weeks and five cities, but this pack covers three: Nagpur (21-25 Jan), Chennai (29 Jan-2 Feb), and Ahmedabad (27 Feb-3 Mar).
— 1st Test — Nagpur, VCA Stadium, 21-25 Jan (in this pack)
— 2nd Test — Chennai, MA Chidambaram Stadium, 29 Jan-2 Feb (in this pack)
— 3rd Test — Guwahati, Barsapara Stadium, 11-15 Feb (not covered by this pack)
— 4th Test — Ranchi, JSCA International Stadium, 19-23 Feb (not covered by this pack)
— 5th Test — Ahmedabad, Narendra Modi Stadium, 27 Feb-3 Mar (in this pack)
Nagpur: Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International is 10km from VCA Stadium, 15-25 minutes outside match traffic. It's domestic-first — IndiGo runs it hardest, with Air India filling in — so most international arrivals connect through Mumbai, Delhi, or Bengaluru. Late January here is the easiest weather of the trip: high 20s by day, low teens at night, dry. It's also the cheapest city on the itinerary, budget rooms from around $22.
Chennai: Chennai International sits 17km from Chepauk, about 26 minutes. This is the one proper international gateway of the three, with Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines alongside the usual domestic carriers. Late January into February stays warm and noticeably humid — mid-70s% even in Chennai's "dry" season — and it's the priciest of the three cities to sleep in, budget rooms from around $25, mid-range closer to $70.
Ahmedabad: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International is 10-12km from the stadium, 25-35 minutes. IndiGo treats it as an operating base with the deepest domestic network of the three, plus a few international routes via Emirates and Etihad. By the time you land here in late February or early March, five weeks after Nagpur, expect noticeably hotter conditions — highs already pushing past 30°C and climbing fast into March. Costs sit in the middle of the three.
Flights between cities: Follow the order you'll travel them. Nagpur to Chennai has no direct flight — you're connecting through Bangalore, Hyderabad, or Mumbai, so build in a real travel day. Chennai to Ahmedabad, flown about four weeks later, is the easy leg: IndiGo nonstop, a couple of times a day, under two and a half hours.
The four-week gap: This is the real planning decision after Chennai. Flying home and back works if your schedule allows it, but most fans use the gap for a multi-day trip inside the country instead — Gir National Park's lion safaris and the Statue of Unity are both realistic from Ahmedabad if you arrive early (see the Gujarat-side experiences in this pack) — or simply space out their Ahmedabad arrival so the trip isn't a dead sprint.
